Assignment One

Assignment one has three sections and will be carried out over the entire eight weeks of the program. 

Part A

Weighted at 15% of your total grade

After reading materials in Unit One and viewing the blog creation PowerPoint or video, create a blog at www.blogger.com.  You should demonstrate your ability to;

Your blog should represent you in it's appearance and structure.  You will use this blog to interact with other class members and the instructor. 

Once you have created the blog, send the URL (http://[your blog name].blogspot.com) to your instructor through the Teaching with Technology blog comments.  Your blog will be put on the class blog list and on the Teaching with Technology blog to allow other students to view and comment on it.

Part B

Part B of this assignments will continue until the end of the program.  Continue making blog postings on your blog.  Your posts should be related to teaching, technology or this course.  You can reflect on your learning process and provide insight or resources that you think are useful. 

You are also required to comment on your classmates blogs.  You can find class member's blogs on the Class Blog page or the Teaching with Technology blog.  Your comments should reflect the posts on that student's blog and have substance and relevance.  This will be very important during assignment two, when you will be asked to critique one another's podcasts.

This part of the assignment is due at the end of the course.  See course schedule for exact date.  This is a self-reflection activity.  You will create a last posting for your blog that explains what you have learned in this course.  Possible topics could include;

Assignment Two

After reading Unit Two and viewing Podcast creation materials, you will create a podcast and post it on your blog.  This podcast must be between 3 and 10 minutes long and can be on any topic of your choice.  The podcast must have at least two different elements.  For example, voice, music or sound effects.

Assignment Three

This assignment has two parts.

Part A

Weighted at 15% of your total grade

After reading Unit 3 and viewing wiki creation materials, you will create your own wiki at pbwiki.com.  The wiki should be designed to inspire your classmates to contribute in part B.  The wiki can be on any topic but consider that the real purpose of a wiki is for collaboration and than topics which might be familiar to other class members will inspire more collaboration in part B.  Your writing contribution to your wiki must be between 450 and 500 words.  You can identify your writing by using a unique color or font. 

Here are a few possible suggestions for your wiki;

Once you have created your wiki, send your URL and password to the Teaching with Technology blog.  The wiki address and password will be listed on the Class Blog page for others to access it.

Part B

Weighted at 15% of your total grade

In part B, you will contribute to your class members wikis to demonstrate the collaborative nature of wikis.  You must write on at least 5 different wikis.  You must contribute at least 100 words per contribution and the writing should be relevant to the wiki's topic.  You can find your class member's wikis on the Class Blog page.

During this time, you will also be monitoring your own wiki to make sure that others are following your instructions for contribution and making changes where necessary.
